Rostock: Major HUMAN School Project with Live Concert

It's official: Beginning of July 2024, students from "GodeWindschule" - a school with a focus on Learning Disabilities in Rostock-Evershagen - will showcase their collaborative work on questions of humanity, developed in cooperation with a team of dance and theater educators. The students from the "GodeWindschule" will be musically accompanied by the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Rostock Conservatory, performing an adapted variation of the HUMAN musical piece.

Statements from project leaders shed light on the opportunities and challenges of the project:

  • Regina Moscha, Head of GodeWindschule in Rostock-Evershagen
Evershagen "Dance, music, and movement serve as central keys to explore the theme of 'being human' in collaboration with a community of diverse individuals, opening up new perspectives. Regina Moscha, principal of GodeWindschule, is convinced of this. 'The opportunity for our students to participate in such a learning-enhancing and educationally effective project, to contribute, and to creatively engage is a major challenge of our pedagogical work and a perfect element to promote the comprehensive development of our students' personalities.'
  • Yvonne Middelborg, Chairperson of the Regional Dance Association "Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Tanz Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" coordinates the dance team:
„Die Methode Community Dance verbindet künstlerische mit sozialer Praxis und ist das Mittel der Wahl, gemeinsam mit Schüler:innen der GodeWind Schule ein Tanzstück zu den 13 Themen des Musikwerkes zu entwickeln. Die Zusammenarbeit mit den jungen Menschen ist ein intensiver, spannender, kreativer und gemeinschaftlicher Prozess, in dem sich immer wieder Räume für wertvolle Erfahrungen öffnen, die empowern.“
  • Ralph Reichel, Director of the Theater, and Johannes Lang, Director of the Conservatory and Conductor of the Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Johannes Lang, Direktor des Konservatoriums und Dirigent des JugendSinfonieOrchester,
see great opportunities "not only to work across disciplines in this way. Both are also excited that with this project, teenagers from different neighborhoods can bring the performance 'HUMAN - Being Human' to the stage together."

This major project is only possible through the collaboration of many enthusiasts and extensive financial support from the "ZUR BÜHNE" program of the German Theater Association as part of "Culture Empowers" by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
