75 years: “Long Night” on human rights on Deutschlandfunk radio

During the night between 9 and 10 December 2023, Deutschlandfunk will be broadcasting a special three-hour programme about Stéphane Hessel and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The programme will feature HUMAN music as well as music representing the struggle for equality, justice and freedom. HUMAN initiator and composer Helge Burggrabe is responsible for the music selection.
The creation of the Human Rights Charter was significantly influenced by the politician and diplomat Eleonor Roosevelt. The German-Frenchman, Jew, resistance fighter and diplomat Stéphane Hessel (1917-2013) was at her side. With him, who founded the Resistance, survived the Buchenwald concentration camp and remained an ambassador of reconciliation and confidence even into old age, and statements from science, politics and civil society, a wide spectrum is presented that extends from the day of the declaration on 10 December 1948 to the present day.
